Just came back from Amsterdam this morning. Was fantastic, if a little (okay, a LOT) wet. Curiously, it made the UK look like a sun-drenched paradise. ;-)
Went a bit crazy with the shopping - I took the job offer (referred to in this post) so now have a fresh source of income coming in to allay my fears of wretched joblessness. And promptly bought a glorious pair of leather gloves in time for winter (on sale for EUR20), a chocolate brown Bjorn Borg bag on sale for EUR19 (handy for after-work football (soccer) and tennis games) and a Green Tea Rituals shower foam b/c I loved the smell of it.
What else? Finally found a great place with what I hope will be fantastic housemates. Am moving tomorrow after I sign the lease in the morning. Great timing before I start my job on Monday. But ... Ack! I've never shared with complete strangers before - I've always known my housemates beforehand.
A propos of nothing:
shimmeree's awards have almost inspired me to do the same, except not with awards. As in, finally provide a review/rec page. Except I am an elitist snob who's personal views about fanfic would only appeal to only about 10% of the population, which is why I've never bothered before. Hmmm.
ETA: Finally read Atonement during the trip. I'm totally in love with most of the book, except when he rambles through descriptions about light, etc, etc. Yes it's pot calling the kettle black, but does he have to dwell quite as much on every single detail? It's great knowing the story beforehand though; otherwise it'd be a very frustrating read!
